Maria Childers, Medical Director of Pediatrics at Atracare

Maria Childers is the Medical Director of Pediatrics at Atracare. With decades of education and experience under her belt, she is well-qualified to provide exceptional pediatric care for your children. Dr. Childers completed her residency at Cornell New York Presbyterian Hospital before relocating to Lewes and co-creating Atracare Health. Her love and concern for the health and well-being of children allow her to bring compassionate, expert pediatric care to Lewes and the surrounding area. Here’s what Dr. Childers says about her inspiration for becoming a pediatrician.

“My father was a great surgeon, a great man, and people looked up to him. I wanted to follow in his footsteps. I credit my father with introducing me to the world of pediatrics where I could continue to work with children, but also follow my passion for medicine. Kids are amazing. They are kind, they are incredibly forgiving and very resilient. They really look at life through rose-colored glasses. They teach me every day about life, and it’s quite humbling.”

It warns against doubling up on the same active ingredients (especially acetaminophen in multi-symptom products like DayQuil/NyQuil) and encourages asking a pharmacist if unsure. It also lists emergency symptoms and high-risk groups who should seek medical advice, and emphasizes rest, fluids, humidifier use, and sleep as key to recovery.
