In a recent Public Service Announcement, Atracare’s own Will Albanese highlights an important patient advocacy effort happening right now in Delaware. The Medical Society of Delaware is working to reform the prior authorization process, which often delays care while insurance companies decide whether to approve medically necessary treatments.

These unnecessary delays can stretch from days to weeks, creating unnecessary stress and sometimes preventing timely care altogether. That’s why new legislation, supported by the Medical Society of Delaware, is so important. The proposed bill would require insurance companies to respond to prior authorization requests within hours, not days, helping patients get the care and medications they need without frustrating hold-ups.
