Atracare Apple Watch Giveaway – A Focus on Mental Health

Being Technology-driven, Atracare utilizes cutting-edge technology to the fullest extent. To celebrate the grand opening of our Mental Health department in Lewes, we’re giving away an Apple Watch to one lucky contestant!  Why? Atracare is focused on the mind-body connection. Wearing an Apple Watch can track and measure metrics relating to stress, diet, exercise, mindfulness, and sleep – 5 core areas that play a massive role in the health of ones mind and body.

Apple Watch Helps Users Be More Mindful of Stress

The following is sourced from Health.gov >

Preventing and managing long-term stress can lower your risk for other conditions — like heart disease, obesity, high blood pressure, and depression.

You can prevent or reduce stress by:

  • Planning ahead
  • Deciding which tasks to do first
  • Preparing for stressful events

Apps For Mindfulness

The Apple Watch has many native and third-party apps that can help track, measure, and foster mindfulness, stress, and sleep. Headspace wont the App of the Year award in 2017, and the app Calm explores topics of mindfulness for kids as well as encouraging better sleep.

From the Apple App Store:

Several apps leverage the latest research on cognitive behavioral therapy to help address larger issues. Although the apps are not a substitute for professional treatment, they do put a host of resources at your fingertips.

Exercise, Activity, and its Role in Mental Health

It’s no secret that a good workout, or even a brief walk, can have a positive impact on ones mood. Exercise increases endorphans, weight loss and body image, and improves the quality of sleep.

According to EMAS (source)

There are many studies advocating the positive effects of exercise on mental health. The general outcome from research indicates that exercise can bring about many physiological changes which result in an improvement in mood state, self-esteem and lower stress and anxiety levels. The physical effects of exercise include reduction of blood pressure, enhanced cardiovascular fitness, weight loss, and prevention of chronic diseases such as cancer, diabetes, hypertension, obesity, osteoporosis and cognitive conditions like Alzheimer’s.

Fortunately, the Apple Watch has a corpus of apps to help track workouts, exercise, and activities. From marathon running to general everyday metrics for standing and steps, the Apple Watch has it covered.
