Here’s a sneak peek inside Atracare’s brand-new facility on Plantation Road!

We’re on site at Plantation Road, where Atracare’s Primary Care department will be fully housed in the next couple of weeks. This modern, light-filled space is purpose-built for comfort, efficiency, and truly connected care.

What’s inside (straight from the walkthrough)

  • Primary Care, under one roof: These rooms will be inhabited by doctors, nurse practitioners, and Doctors of Nursing Practice (DNPs) providing day-to-day care in this facility.

  • Across the hall: specialty care with Christiana Care: A multi-specialty clinic is being set up right across the hallway—with specialties such as cardiology, neurology, and endocrinology among the services planned—so patients receive complete wraparound care.

  • Healing, natural light everywhere: The building is “lit up” with natural, healing light to help patients feel good and get better, without harsh fluorescent glare—keeping the environment friendly and warm.

  • Exam rooms ready to go: On the Christiana Care side, multi-specialties will come down to provide care in rooms designed to match Atracare’s normal design—floating shelves, in-room sinks, and all the necessities. Beds and supplies are being installed now.

  • Built for providers, too: Dedicated spaces give providers an organized, calm place to work and see their patients.

Why this matters for Sussex County

  • Growth is here—and healthcare should keep pace. With major retail and residential expansion nearby (including Costco, Target, and a likely Whole Foods across the street), healthcare shouldn’t be left behind.

  • Ambitious project, real access: Sussex County has traditionally lagged in healthcare capacity. This facility is Atracare’s ambitious step to meet the demand that comes with population growth—right here, close to home.

What’s next

  • Move-in window: Primary Care transitions into the new space in the next couple of weeks.

  • Go-live details: We’ll share the first patient day as soon as rooms are fully equipped and staffed.

Atracare provides 365-day care across Primary Care, Urgent Care, Pediatrics, Mental Health, and Lactation Consulting—with a focus on warm design, coordinated teams, and fast access.

Get seen. Get better. Get on your way.

Sussex doesn’t need a medical school; it needs doctors

Sussex County urgently needs more physicians, but using Rural Health Transformational Program funding to build a medical school is not the fastest or most effective solution.
