Atracare Pediatrics Announces October Flu Clinics for Children

Flu season is approaching, and Atracare Pediatrics is making it easier for families to get their children vaccinated before influenza activity increases.

Atracare will host a series of Pediatric Flu Clinics throughout October 2026, giving established pediatric patients several convenient evening opportunities to receive their seasonal flu vaccine.

2026 Atracare Pediatric Flu Clinic Dates

The Pediatric Flu Clinics will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on the following dates:

  • Tuesday, October 6
  • Tuesday, October 13
  • Tuesday, October 20
  • Tuesday, October 27

The clinics are available to current Atracare Pediatrics patients only. Patients may be subject to a copay depending on their insurance coverage.

Why Should Children Get a Flu Vaccine?

Influenza is a contagious respiratory illness that can range from mild to severe. Children can develop symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat, body aches and fatigue, and some children are at greater risk for serious flu-related complications.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends annual flu vaccination for everyone 6 months of age and older, with limited exceptions.

Flu vaccination can reduce a child’s risk of becoming sick with influenza and is an important part of protecting children throughout flu season.

When Should Children Get Their Flu Vaccine?

For most people, September and October are generally good times to receive a seasonal flu vaccine. Getting vaccinated before flu begins spreading widely gives the body time to develop protection.

According to the CDC, it takes approximately two weeks after vaccination for the body to develop antibodies against influenza. Vaccination later in the season can still provide protection as long as flu viruses continue circulating.

Some Children May Need Two Doses

Parents should also be aware that some children between 6 months and 8 years old may need two doses of flu vaccine during the same flu season.

This can include children receiving a flu vaccine for the first time, children who have previously received only one dose, or children whose vaccination history is unknown. When two doses are needed, they should be given at least four weeks apart.

Your child’s pediatric healthcare provider can determine whether one or two doses are appropriate.

Making Flu Vaccination More Convenient for Atracare Families

Between school, activities and work schedules, finding time for another medical appointment can be difficult. Atracare’s evening Pediatric Flu Clinics provide established patients with additional opportunities to receive their seasonal vaccine.
